Holderness Close, Stenson Fields, are now both at home. Garry will go back into hospital for more treatment and Karen is facing chemotherapy.
"I just want him back to normal. He doesn't look like my Garry, he's lost so much weight, he's a shadow of his former self."
Karen, 54, said: "It was virtually non existent and they worried about what that meant."
"I can't thank them enough for all the help they gave us both while Garry was in there. I don't know what I'd have done without them.
"I thought it was just because of the stress and upset of Garry. I'd not been eating properly I didn't want anything.
Engineer Garry had a ten day intensive chemotherapy treatment.
Garry is now at home albeit temporarily after recovering well from his treatment.

"Garry had a tumour in the top part of his right lung, but the doctors said an operation would be able to get rid of it and that would be that.
Garry, of Stenson Fields, was taken to the Nottingham City Hospital to have his lung operated on in May, and was then transferred back to the Royal Derby to be treated for the leukaemia.
Karen said: "It's a long road, but we're going to walk it together, supporting each other."
While at Garry's bedside in intensive care at the Royal Derby Hospital, Karen developed a severe stomach ache.
"They said that people live without part of their lungs quite easily."
Tests were done on Garry's blood and he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia a particularly dangerous form of the blood cancer.
"So I went home but couldn't sleep and had a bath to try and calm it down. When it didn't, I went to A expecting to just be given some antibiotics and sent home.

Karen said: "The doctors said that it'll be about a year before Garry is back on his feet and well again.
