Army vets ride for good community causes
"I'd really like to see the people come up to the show and see that it's not all just guys with bikes with loud pipes and all this," said Truman. "We are caring, community oriented people. We're not just guys in black leather jackets."
"They have to be surgically clean, with no flaws," said Truman. Brig. Gen. Lewis Mackenzie will judge 40 of these bikes based on their condition and cleanliness.
Truman has been riding since he was only 15 years old, and says it's something that's hard to get out of the system.
During the two day event, people will get a chance to see all kinds of bikes, including show and custom built bikes, as well as antique, stock and touring class bikes.
"A lot of times when we're overseas, we're on a mission, we're on a job," said Truman. "And people, especially kids, see Canadians there and they would come up. We'd give them chocolate bars, but in some places we weren't allowed to do this, and we had to walk away from these kids, walk away from people, because we had a job to do. Now we can go back and make up for those lost times. And we can help people now to make up for the ones that we couldn't because of our job."
Truman hopes that when people come to the event, they will see bikers in a whole new light.
We worked for our country and for our communities, and now we're still at it. But now instead of wearing a pair of boots, we're on our motorcycles."
"We try to do our best," said Bill Truman, operations unit president for CAV national. "We joined the service, some of us [as long as] 35 years ago, for our country. Nike Shoes Tumblr Girls
It all started eight years ago right here in Kingston, when two formers army vets decided to form a group in order to keep their army affiliation. Since then, the group has grown to be nationwide.
"We want to make sure that nobody forgets the sacrifices that were made so we can live the way we do," said Truman. "We all love Nov. 11, but to us, Nov. 11 is 365 days a year."
It's also important to remember Canadian veterans. The group wants to ensure they do all they can to make sure veterans are never forgotten.
Hosted by the Canadian Army Vets (CAV) Vimy Unit in Kingston, the event is a chance for army veterans to come together with the community in order to raise money for charities both in Kingston and around the world, including the H'art School of Smiles and the International Community for the Relief of Starvation and Suffering.

"Once you've been on a trip on a motorcycle, it's hard to get in a car and do the same thing. On a bike, you've got the smells and the climate. Even if it's not a good day, if it's cloudy, it's just the freedom that you have on a motorcycle."
There are now over 100 members in Kingston alone.
Since the group's humble beginnings, they have raised over $60,000.
